Adjusting watch accuracy?

It isn't a question of picking up the basic time signal apparently. The Colorado station has a special setup that sends out code the watch picks up. Kauai doesn't do that at all. BTW, I got a shortwave radio which I use to check accuracy. I was surprised to find that I often can't pick up...

    Watch accuracy

Okay, 8 days it is off by 1/2 a second, but at 13 days it is off by 2 seconds. I suspect your watch did what mine do - they run faster when not being worn. It will be interesting to see if it changes more slowly again now. Bob

    Watch accuracy

[ QUOTE ] AlphaTea said: That little sucker was still running, had the correct date and the time was only off by about 10 seconds or so! [/ QUOTE ] The bad news is that if you actually were wearng the watch, it probably wouldn't be anywhere near as accurate...

    Adjusting watch accuracy?

Thanks for that info. I'll look for such a screew today. > Any quartz watch will run a little faster in cooler ambient temperatures, -and will slow a little bit from normal (say 72°F) when it's hot. < > I have about 5 watches that are within 1 second per month, and use this method to...

    Adjusting watch accuracy?

    > Lots of watches can set themselves from the atomic clock signals. Too bad there's only one emitter, in Colorado. < They won't reach me here in Hawaii. There are also ones in Europe, but even if I had a watch that worked with them, they are too far away too. > However, I can just use my cell...

    Adjusting watch accuracy?

Many years ago I bought a Timex Expedition. I'm not sure what the guaranteed accuracy was at the time, but I suspect at least 1 minute/month since I don't recall seeing anything better at the time. Well, this thing was amazing. In the first 49 days it was no more than 1/4 second slow! After...

    LED reading lamps?

Geez, that price is amazing, but all too common. I can't see any justification for those prices at all! Bob

    LED reading lamps?

I guess the "wiring" part is what worries me, having never done anything like that. I do know that things that seem simple to most people are not so simple for me to grasp. Still, I might try these. I'm rather surprised that there are not things like this you can just buy in a store though...

    LED reading lamps?

Thanks, I gave it a quick look. I've never been very good at putting things together, but it might be worth the effort. Bob

    LED reading lamps?

My total experience with LED lights is my Princeton Impact. I really like it and I actually use it to read by at night. Darn thing seems to last forever on a set of batteries. So, I got to thinking that maybe there was an LED desklamp or something for reading, preferrably that worked by...
