LED reading lamps?

My total experience with LED lights is my Princeton Impact. I really like it and I actually use it to read by at night. Darn thing seems to last forever on a set of batteries.

So, I got to thinking that maybe there was an LED desklamp or something for reading, preferrably that worked by plugging it in rather than using batteries. Also something that wasn't expensive - I think I've seen things on the net for hundreds of dollars, which seems ridiculous.

Also, is there a particular part of this forum that deals with this type of LED light?

I believe the Cluster comes pre-assembled. You screw it into the brass plate using the threads on the cluster and then screw the plate to your desk or headboard or wall--they also have a magnetic base and a suction cup base so you've got options. Then I think you just plug in the transformer and you're done.

These lights do require installation and wiring. A transformer could be connected directly to one of the lights but then you would have to plug and unplug the transformer to turn the light on and off. I did a simple reading light for a friend by installing a couple stalks in a project box along with a switch. He has the transformer plugged into a power strip and he turns the power strip off to cut the power to the transformer.

There are many ways to go but the products Saaby has drawn your attention to do require some assembly and installation.

I guess the "wiring" part is what worries me, having never done anything like that. I do know that things that seem simple to most people are not so simple for me to grasp. Still, I might try these.

I'm rather surprised that there are not things like this you can just buy in a store though. It seems like it would be a natural use for LED lights.

Dig up the 9-month-old thread cause Shop Lifestyle offers an 20-LED desklamp (http://www.shoplifestyle.com/store/product.asp?dept_id=39&pf_id=5200), which seems to be sourced from Nuwai (www.nuwai.com, under the New Products Section). I was wondering has anyone tried it?
