My mother had a tiny flint and fluid lighter from the late '40's. I believe it said "Made in Occupied Japan" on the bottom. It was definitely keychain size. I might still have it somewhere, so I'll edit in a pic if I find it.

You might want to check out the "permanent match". I got some of these in the late 60's and they still work. I bought some from BudK and gave them to friends.

I bought one from CountyComm awhile back & for the life of me I cannot get it to light consistently. Maybe 2 times out of ten I get flame, maybe less. I love the idea but it doesn't seem worth the hassle for EDC (I bought it in hopes of carrying it on my keychain). If anyone has any hints on making them work I love to hear them!

Normark makes Kydex sheaths for mini bics too, I've thought about it but I think that lighter would be too big for me to carry daily (not a smoker).

I was in the market for something like this a few years back, but never found anything I liked. I don't smoke, so I mainly wanted it for survival situations.
Colibri has some that aren't too large: http://www.colibri.com/catalogs/CCatalog3.cfm?StylePrefix=QTR19200
Solo makes an interesting SAK style lighter: http://www.getlit.com/nhtml/micro.shtml

I ended up getting a sparklite firestarter: http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/fire%20starters%20main/spark-lite.htm :)

if your looking for something that will light a cigarette you could carry a few batteries and a thin copper wire....

i have one of these...bought in Taiwan as a..well...contradictory novelty, unfortunately it had a broken valve and can no longer charge it.....

bought it for $[TND]50...which is about $[USD]1.51976 here, thats probably the reason why it was short lived:scowl:

Those mini screw top lighters look very interesting but at $23.00...OUCH! I guess if it's chrome plated brass, it would be worth it but he doesn't say in his description. The problem with all fluid lighters has always been the fluid evaporating too quickly including Zippos. I have some of those very old "lipstick" style lighters and while they work well, the fluid also evaporates too quickly.

I've carried one of those cheap, plastic Japanese permanent matches on my keychain for years and they work great when you need an emergency light. They are o-ringed and screw in the top so the fluid will last for a LONG time.

bubbacatfish,
With a set of tweezers, gently pull some more wick equally out of both sides of the match itself. Not too much now but enough that the wick is hanging out slightly on both sides. That should do the trick.

I tried pulling more wick up with a pair of pliers & got nowhere but I'll try again, thanks Gene.
