I always carry and store my side-button lights with the tailcap unscrewed. I had one accidental activation of an S21E and that was enough. It only has a B35AM and a 2.2A driver, but even so my leg got HOT. I don't wanna imagine the actual damage if it was, say, an FC40 or SFT70 of my other torches.

The only exception I make is the Sofirn SC13 and Convoy H4 (headlamp) I keep on my backpack. They both have stiff buttons and nothing stashed alongside them that could press down on said buttons.
 
I just wanted a new 18650 light that didn't take proprietary batteries, and didn't have an encased battery. Wurkkos had the FC12C on sale for a sizeable discount. So, I figured one 18650 light is as good as another. Bought it without much expectation. Turns out, fantastic light! It's rare that I get a surprise for all the right reasons, with my many, recent purchases of EDC gear.
18650 lights are my favorite lights, by far.

Zebras, Hank's, Anduril interface is great, too.
 
Last night I used my T2 (519A 5000K) at 35%-ish power to light up a way through a somewhat dark street to where I'd parked my car. It was not the safest part of town, so it was mostly as an "I'm aware of what goes on around me, find some other actually distracted schmuck" deterrent than an actual aid to my vision.

On the absolute other end of the "Convoy S2+ in a different size" spectrum, I'm currently using my S26A (SFT70 3000K) as a mood light in my bedroom/study.
 
We had a brief power outage this evening lasting about 8 seconds. Iw was enough to knock our network connection offline, and one of our devices wasn't booting back up properly. I used my PD36R to examine it and then power-cycled it. Since you're reading this, it's fixed.
I've been using these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FM22G3B3 I've also been using that company's other varieties as well. These have time delays upon voltage irregularities which prevents those random lockups from happening. I use them on my fridges, washing machines, etc. BUT, I'd strongly caution against using the ones with physical external on/off rocker switches on them, as the switches don't look like they're rated for the full amperage. The relays definitely are though.

While I've not had any direct lightning strikes, I've had multiple power outages caused by lightning and these dutifully disconnected the circuit and waited until power was stable and the timer had elapsed.
 
Went on a late night walk to enjoy the refreshing coolness, brought a 2AA Peak along.
Grabbed a Mini Mag LED to try and find what's eating my hot pepper plant.
Could be something from the nocturnal badger family, or even deer. I was surprised when I had heard munching noises, peeked out and saw a deer munching away on my scorpion peppers, lol. No excessive drooling, nothing of the sort, just munching away on a million scovilles without a care in the world. I tossed an old apple out there, which remained untouched except by ants...
 
Yesterday morning, laundry day!
My elderly mother decided to help, like she usually does.
The Laundry Room is on the first floor. One Window. Fan inside of it.
No natural light comes in. Lights are on two timers. One near the front.
One near the back of the room. Lights were on in both sections.
Then, lights in the back shut off. Few seconds later, lights in the front did too.
Standing in a very dark Laundry Room next to my elderly mother.
Out comes my Single-AAA LED Maglite Solitaire in Dark Forest-Green body color.
47 rated lumens plenty of light to switch both timers back on.
Almost went to do laundry without it. Glad I didn't.

Thanks for the tip on the surge protectors.

I've lost equipment from nearby lightning strikes. Not from the strike directly but from the massive EMP it produced. It was usually the 1488 or 1489 TTL to RS232 chips. Those things would blow out if you looked at them sideways. I wound up putting sockets in those positions on the boards so I could swap them out quickly. I kept a tube of those ICs on hand.

Power was out in my neighborhood from about 2 PM until 4:15 PM.

Used my Zebralight H54 Fc N and my Zebralight SC53c to get around.

(Also used my Prometheus MXS Standby to find my other lights,as it turns on automatically when the power goes out.)

My Wurkkos CL01 was used (sparingly) to light up my apartment.

I'd never go into a room with lights on timers without a light source of my own. Learned that the not-so-hard way at the bathrooms of the clinic my mother gets treatment at. Not-so-hard because even the first time, I had a torch I could tailstand.

Too short to trigger the sensor while sitting, too invested in the (e)mission to stand up...

Network switches are notoriously bad down here, in particular those with PoE ports. Cisco switches are great at operating at high temperatures, and I use them in areas which aren't air conditioned, BUT, only their non-PoE switches. Cisco with PoE blow ports constantly, even with proper grounding/shielding. The old HP Procurve stuff was bulletproof. And if it wasn't, their lifetime overnight replacement warranty was awesome. I intentionally keep a few HP switches between me and the outside world as sacrificial fuses in the data centers. Lately I've been using TP-Link managed PoE switches for awhile at the advice of a local IP phone guy and knock on wood they've held up so far. Multiple tropical systems and the usual Florida thunderstorms.

On the consumer side, modems seem to get hit a lot, whether it be POTS, ISDN, T1, or Coax. Proper surge protection on the incoming lines does help, but EMP does these in even with protection, and I've had that happen.

I lost a cable modem after this lightning strike hit the house behind me. Note the EMP interference which appears like a rolling shutter, causing the lower 1/4 of the CCTV image to appear lighter. Nice shower of sparks in the actual video. Surprisingly, no damage to their place other than some electronics.

The worst lightning damage I saw was at a transmitter site. Typical FL summertime nasty thunderstorm. Close lightning then all of our monitor TVs went blank for the MMDS transmitters. After the lightning let up a bit we drove over to the transmitter site and found part of the antenna on the ground, one end melted. The tower looked alright BUT the thick Heliax cable now had a large hole in it, where it made the 90 degree turn from vertical to horizontal as it made its way into the transmitter doghouse. Inside was a mess. We had a bunch of these TrippLite protectors on every outlet in the room. Every single one of them had s**t stains splattering the walls and floor around them. Some of them were no longer attached to the wall but were in pieces on the floor. It took us about two hours to clean up the mess in there, including replacing every outlet. We'd later replace the circuit breaker panel & breakers that month. After the cleanup, for fun I tried powering up one of the racks. The voltage regulator on the rack came online, no issues. I measured it extensively with and without a load (space heater) to make sure before connecting the real equipment. All of it came on, including the transmitter. Over the next couple of hours, we did some back-of-the-napkin math and built a new antenna with coat hangers, plumber's solder, and a blowtorch. I think we were back on-air within 4 hours.

After everything was put back to normal, we did a bit of failure analysis and determined the issue was the doghouse was added to a larger building and had its own grounds, and the building had multiple grounds as well, with each addition getting a new one. Multiple grounds in FL = lightning magnet. We discussed this with building maintenance hoping to get things down to a single ground, but they weren't interested. So we cut and floated all of ours. The next time lightning came to town, the transmitter room was fine, but the building lost quite a bit of gear including the HVAC chiller controls. My responsibility was the doghouse, no further. Not my problem. :)

Don't be afraid to run the Wurkkos CL01. It's battery life is unusually good. When we travel, I set one up in the bathroom on a lower setting, basically moon, then increase the brightness to the very next step. Even running it for 10-12 hours like that each night, after a week it still shows 3/4 full.

I ran into this at the office. They replaced the bathroom light switches with motion sensors. And the elechicken forgot to take it out of test mode, so 20 seconds after I walked in, the lights went out, and I was already sitting. Fenix E05 to the rescue!
 
Unless a triple accidental activation counts as additional uses, I (deliberately) used my Acebeam E75 Ti once yesterday. I dropped something on the floor in a store, that rolled under a covered up stack of pallets (which was used as the base for a discount bin). And used the light to find it again.

The majority of my lights are 18650, but I'm really starting to warm up to 21700. It's not that much bigger or heavier, but difference in power is substantial.
I could be wrong, but I get the sense the mainstream 18650 lights are 1000 Lumen, whereas the mainstream 21700 lights are 3000 Lumen. That is a significant bump in output power. Also, I really like the extra runtime a 21700 light can get, with a 5000 mAh vs 3500 mAh battery.

And I don't have any regrets, having spent the last year going fully from 18650 to 21700. Still keeping a few 18650 lights for nostalgia, like my trusted Fenix PD35 v1, my very first Convoy (an ancient, but mandatory S2+) and a Wurkkos FC11C.
