    First Time Building Custom Light

I am slowly getting the parts together to make a custom light. I am sure there are some better resources out there, but I haven't been able to find them. I have managed to get some companies to send me samples of 'membrane switches.' I think these are the kinds of switches I want to use. I...

Best light for cockpit night flying?

The Seitz lights that Jumpmaster mentioned are the ones the Army is issuing. We use Green to be compatible with our NVGs, if your not wearing them, I would guess its your choice. I've found that the non-dimmable photons are way too bright, as is the SF A2. I have a seitz fingerlight as well...

How much better is the Photon Freedom ...

Re: What would you get for everyday use? Turq. .. I just played with one in the store, and I have to say the worst thing about the Freedom is that it doesn't remember how bright it was last time you used it. I don't know if there is a way to get it to remember, but for me, having a light come...

    Twist tail cap switches

I just want to buy a replacement tailcap clicky switch for a 2AA MiniMag. I'm not a diver, so I'm not too worried about the switch activating under (water) pressure. I would like the light to at least still be dunkable, though.

    Twist tail cap switches

I see plenty of references to these KROLL switches, but I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere? I've ordered a couple (ok, 3) different drop-in sandwich thingys for a 2AA MiniMag, and I'd like to try some KROLL switches too. Where to buy them?

Sold/Expired The Drop in HD Pill You've All Been Waiting For ..

Re: The Drop in HD Pill You\'ve All Been Waiting Fo I want one, too. (EDIT: I mean a pill, not a micromag) Do I go ahead and pay by paypal or wait for my name to come up? I need to get one by the end of Dec, if possible, as I'll be headed to Iraq then. Thanks, Edward

    TwinTask Filters?

Does anyone know where to get a filter similar to the SF type (flip up/down) for a SL TT 2L?

    "SOS" mode: silly or not?

Re: \"SOS\" mode: silly or not? I don't really know the physics of it, but you can see the beam of the laser under most conditions, and it goes way up into the sky. If you kind of 'swirl' the laser, you make a giant cone pointing down at you. NVGs are extra sensitive to Red and Near IR...

    "SOS" mode: silly or not?

Re: \"SOS\" mode: silly or not? As a military helicopter pilot and as someone who has had some degree of survival training, I would say that it is not very important. There are 2 situations you may be in: 1. You need help, and there are already people looking for you and 2. You need help...

    Help me pick a Headlamp

Yukon HL and a Tikka are the 2 I've tried. I use my Yukon HL for cross country skiing. I can actually see fine using the dim mode, and I only turn it up to bright if I need to see something farther away. A friend asked if I felt I could mountain bike using it. If you are on a trail/road/path...

    Recommend for Army Pilot

Thanks for all the input, guys. I managed to find a store up here in Fairbanks, AK, that actually has the full line of surefires, streamlights, and princeton-tec's, plus some others available to play with. Its called Arctic Fire+Safety... Anyways, Here is what I found: The A2 is actually way...

    A better A2

If I'm not mistaken the U2 is white-only. I need a light that can provide bright white and dim blue.

    A better A2

CPF User Wolfen recommended I cross post this to this board to see what you thought about building such a light. My main complaint with an A2 is that the white light is much brighter than I need and therefore burns through more batteries than necessary. Not to mention its blinding effect when...

    Recommend for Army Pilot

I'm not a big fan of twisting to turn on the light since it generally would take 2 hands to do. I'm probably just geeky enough to try to build something. I've been checking out the modders boards a little to see what I can learn about the voltage regulation. I did build my own finger light...

    Recommend for Army Pilot

I've sent an email to peak. Thanks for the tip. It looks like their double ended flashlights might do the trick. I fly the mighty CH-47 Chinook.

    Recommend for Army Pilot

Thanks for the input. I checked out the (yet to be released?) u2, and the L2. I like mut's idea of filtering an ARC4. It would be great if there was a flip-up filter for the ARC like surefire offers. I guess mut is saying I can use the maglite filter kit for on the ARC. I'll have to see how...

    Recommend for Army Pilot

Wow. I'm impressed with the knowledge of flashlights found on this board. I found the site looking for an 'ultimate flashlight' for myself. Another pilot showed me his SureFire light, so I checked out their site. I really liked the idea of the A2 Aviator. However, the 1 hour of runtime on...
