I'm getting a brand new surefire 6p from one of the members in the marketplace and i'm looking to build my own high powered module.

I'm getting a DX sku 5937
a CREE R2 (don't know where to get it yet tho)
but i'd like to put a nice driver that can work with 1 to 3 cells, and that pushes more than the standard maximum 1.2a to get maximum brightness out of this thing, it would also be nice to get some programming options or modes at least. Any recommendations?

Most multi-power drivers seem to only drive around 1a.

If you can stand to use a single cell, kaidomain sell a multi mode 1.2a driver which is probably about 1.4a on a fresh cell (although I just got sent an order of the wrong version).

Or you could always buy a dereelight pill if 1.2a is enough, there pretty cheap but would need you to replace the Q5.

I've not seen any which go higher that these, but would be interested in something around 1.4a. So hopefully someone will post up something more exotic but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Actually I was looking for this a while ago as well and did not find any driver.
The way i got away was to use 2x800ma driver in parallel, but for this project i want something strong i can trust.
