My daughter is two and a half. Guess I been having an influence on her. I have noticed that whenever she runs across a flashlight, first she turns in about in her hand looking for a switch. If found, then she presses on it to turn it on, or gives me that look and asks that I "help" if its too hard for her precious little hands to manipulate.
If there is no switch she immediately examines the tail end and presses the button if there is one to be found.
If no tailcap, she grabs hold of the bezel and starts twisting to see if it comes on.
I LOVE HER!!!:)

I went and bought her her own dedicated lite. Just a starter thats easy for her to manipulate. Red mini-m*g with Nite Ize drop in.

The RR 2AA was too hard for her to push the switch. The Stinger and m*gs are too heavy and unwieldy. I don't want her to drop it on her little feets.
She is also partial to the chinese "police" 3AAA 9led with monentary tailcap, but she keeps forgetting the tail cap is also twist on.
She ia also quite adept with the PT Attitude.

Whenever she misplaces a toy or item, we make a game of retrieving the flashlight and using it to search throught he house, regardless of the time of day or night, until its found. She even holds the light SF style as we search.

(sniff, sniff) she's a chip off the ole block, :mecry: Daddy is so proud!!

Get either one of the Disney 2-AA lights that take a PR bulb and put in a 5mm led dropin or homemade MJLED bulb.

Also the 4-AA dorcy cool blue is great for kids.

plastic and rubber are easier if they hit someone with it. or bite it.

Great story - I know how you feel. I took my two daughters to Walmart to spend some cash they had received from others for Christmas and without me saying a single word, they each got one of the Dorcy glow sticks.

I told my ex-wife, 'I SWEAR I didn't make them get these things!'

Great stuff! Mine just turned 3 and started at 2. She knows where the batteries are at and how to work my lights as well. Also gets a light to look for things regardless of the time of day. Takes a Dorcey with her to bed and then hands it to me as well. My wife just sighs and shakes her head. :ohgeez:

Definitely Daddy's girl.

You need to put an

MAybe if we try hard enough, there will be a generation of women making their significant others roll their eyes when they walk thru the flashlight section at Wally World

Just thought I'd add my short story. My son is fifteen months. Each morning we take him out of the crib, and hold him in our bed with us for some family time. He always scoots over to my side, where I keep a collection of lights on the nightstand. He finds one he likes, begs for it to be turned on, and waves the spot around on the wall, grinning wildly the whole time. He prefers bigger and brighter lights. I think the Mag74 is his favorite, although he also seems to like the purple Minimag with the Night-Ize dropin. He's constantly unscrewing the head and trying to take the dropin out.

My daughter is four. She's mastered the double and triple clicks on the HDS. She discovered the trick of using a toilet paper roll as a "candle" stand on her own. It's not uncommon for her to look at books before bedtime by the light of a flashlight. Sometimes when she asks to borrow a light, I play dumb and tell her I don't have one with me. She'll say something like "come on daddy, you know, the one on your belt."

Start them early, I say. :) Just be sure to set up an investment fund for them to help pay for it all.
