In my opinion it is pure BS of the smelliest type.
If you consider that Volts times Amps equal Watts then you might realize how bogus the claim is. Wattage is a power consumption value not a quantity of light output value. One example might go like this: to feed a twelve Watt load would require 6 Volts at 2 Amps. I doubt the flashlight in question can produce that much power for any usable period of time and still be safe. In general LEDs are driven at approx. 3.3 - 3.6 Volts at currents approx. 20 Ah to just a little over 1000 mA. There are exceptions, of course, but in general ten to twelve watts will destroy an LED as fast as a ten pound sledge hammer.

Crees can do 1500 mA when heatsinked well, so 2 A is not completely out of the ballpark. That's only a 33% increase in current.
Doubt it'll last more than a hundred hours though.
Upon further thought, the current can't be 2 A. To get 12W, you would need 6V @ 2A

Yes but 1500mA @ ~4.0 VF is only 6 watts.
10W and 12W is utter and complete BS unless it is a multi emitter light or a multi die emitter. Stick to reputable retailers.
