As you know, we sold out on the Lisun brand cells awhile back. While waiting for them to fill or order, we found a new brand that performs even better while not increasing the cost much. The new brand is "DP" (Daily Power). According to Kevin over at batterystation.com, these cells are performing close to SF brand cells in run time. And they cost only $1 each so the value is there. I have been testing each cell and I haven't found the "dead cell" phenomena that some people get with the less powerfull Tekcells.

The Lisuns at 80 cents were an awesome deal and performed pretty well according to Kevin. I hope you'll get some more. The DP's at $1.00 are a good deal too, but I'd rather not pay 25% more for 5% additional runtime. At $1.00 per cell there's less differentiation from Surefire cells at $1.25 so I'd probably buy Surefires unless I happened to be placing an order with Arc for other stuff at the same time (which I realize is Arc's intention, but I already bought two Arc LS's and am not likely to buy more anytime soon, nice as they are).

I know I've heard of DOA Surefire cells and vaguely remember hearing that of Tekcells so maybe that kind of problem is inherent to 123's. The Tekcells (according to Kevin) do have less runtime than either Lisuns or better-known brands. I've used a couple Tekcells in my Arc LS and they do work fine (except for the lower runtime) but I probably won't buy any more because they don't work well in higher current lights (e.g. Surefire lights). I don't own any such lights right now, but might get one sometime (Arc LS5?), which is why I'd rather buy SF batteries that are known to work well at such current levels.

I hope you are NOT testing individual 123 cells before shipping them to customers. Any use of a 123 apparently greatly reduces its shelf life. The way I heard it, brand new 123's from the factory apparently have some kind of oxide layer that keeps them fresh for up to 10 years. But as soon as you put the cell into a light and test it, the oxide layer burns through and the cell can go dead in just a year or two. I've definitely noticed 123's going dead in my UKE 2L with just a few minutes of use and 1-2 years of idleness.
 
Paulr, the oxide layer you rare referring to is for other types of lithium chemistries. The chemistry found in 123 cells does not have this problem. Do a keyword search for passivation in the Arc forum.

My test consisted of a random sampling using a digital volt meter. I don't want to send out any junk.

The recent test I performed on these cells was simple:
2 Arc LSH-P's side by side. One with a fresh Surefire and one with a fresh DP. I timed them to "blink mode" of the LS at which time I considered the contest over.

Surefire went 2 hours 30 minutes.
DP went 2 hours 20 minutes.

I actually did this twice after email from Peter.
Results the second time were almost identical.

A note regarding the DP's. I have bought thousands of batteries from DP in the past and always had very good luck with them. This particular one (123) I had not ordered in a while. I have not had a dead battery yet from them at all. I would be very surprised to hear of a dead one in any quantity.

As far as I am concerned they are every bit as good as any other on the market including my own stocked Sanyo at $2 each. Being a Sanyo outfit, I have to stock it. But I sell a lot of those too. Buy the DP's in quantities of 50 or so and you are getting a better deal than the Surefires.

I encourage you to buy these from Peter. I will stand behind them too!!!

How do these new batteries compare the the duracell that comes with the LSH?
Do they work in an X5T?

Yes, they work in the X5T. They are similiar in run time to the Duracells (maybe 5-10 minutes difference).

Kevin, I'd be interested in a runtime test in a Surefire 6P (or similar) with a P61 lamp installed, DP vs Surefire cells. The main attraction of Surefire cells is rumored better performance at very high current drains. Seeing real test results would be great.
 
The P60 lamp in the G2 or M3 should be about the same as the E2e lamp.
 
I have to go to Joplin for a few days to help teach a 20/20 design class. This coming weekend, I will do a run test with my Surefire M3 with the MN10 lamp assembly. See you all Thursday.

I am back. Sorry. Why don't I send some of these batteries to PaulW for testing. Maybe someone else would like to test them. I have been selling them with no complaints as of yet. Oh, and actually it is Friday.
 
I have ordered a bunch of the DPs and will compare them with the SF123s. I plan to include testing with high currents as well, perhaps up to 2.5 amps. I realize that no one claims they will do well at such currents, but I would like to know what lights they are suitable for.
