123 Name brand vs. generic?

Hi all,

I'm new here, what a neat forum you guys have! You discuss all the things that I love. I look forward to spending some time here reading and learning. Anyway what's the deal with name brand batts vs. generics? I have a few SF lights and have always used Duracells but paying $4-$5 each is really getting old. You all talk of good generics at ~$2 each which sounds great. The guys over at the SF forum believe the Duracell and SF batts are the best especially with the higher output SF lights than generics and use the generics for regular output (6P, 9P, etc.) SF lights. So what's the deal? It looks like you guys have had good luck with the Ray-o-vacs. Where can I find them? Thanks all for your opinions and I look forward to hanging around.

Best thing is if you just look at the topic headings, there are a few which deal with your questions. So far, the consensus seems to be SF123's first, followed by Duracell Ultra, then Panasonics.

The difference in specifications is quite small, so people have their personal preferences: often based on cost first !
