I have one of the Quark AA tacticals and do plan on getting more AA style lights. I have a Pila IBC charger for my 18650 batteries. Can the Pila IBC handle the 14500 batteries or do I need a different charger?

I use the Pila with the AW14500P, but you need a 15mm charging spacer. Both are available from Lighthound.

+1 on the Pila for being able to charge the cells... BUT WAIT>>>> the charger COMES COMPLETE (or at least mine did) w/2 black "nub" spacers which are specifically for 14500's. I have TrustFire cells which I charge in there. For charging RCR123's (16340) you would need an extra set of spacers --- which I too got from Lighthound.

Actually, Pila includes these for charging 18500 and 17500 cells, but yeah, it'll work.:) For liabilty reasons, Pila specifies that you only charge Pila cells with their charger. When did a statement like that ever stop any of us from doing something else though.:naughty:

I should add that I don't own a Pila charger and never have, but if I had to do it all over again, that's what I would have started out with. After buying a dozen or so POS Li-Ion chargers over the years, you do actually end up learning something...... eventually.

The Pila spacers must be screwed in and are inconvenient if you use different battery sizes. Also, the button on the Pila spacer does not line up with the 14500 button. The $1.99 aluminum spacer compensates for both the diameter and length differences.

Thank you guys. I have the spaceds with my Pila but was unsure if it would work with the 14500
I have a quark AA tactical that I wouldn't mind running on a protected cell.
