Hey guys I just saw this flashlight and don't know if its been mentioned before because there is so much about 1 AA flashlights on here but I found this at Kaidomain. http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/ProductDetail.aspx?TranID=1364
It says advertised 155 lumens output, so does this sound true anyone? I don't really care about the battery life I am just looking for something that takes AA and give out a lot of light for really cheap. I have the creed Elly from DX and I like it but would like much more light if possible.

I doubt it's going to be 155lumens...note how the description says "advertised 155 lumens output". That means Kai is not saying it's 155 lumens rather the manufacturer "advertises" that. If there's any truth to the numbers, it maybe more true that there's 155 lumens at the emitter. Then it's our job to interpret that there's going to be around a 20% loss from the refector and lens...which is around 124 lumens out the front. Still, for $15 not bad...

One thing I don't get is how its able to go for 2+ hours and supposedly still put out over 100 lumens. I believe the Cree'd Elly is about 60 lumens and has about the same runtime. I would really like to purchase it but would like to hear from others as I have a plenty amount of 1W LED flashlights but have been looking for a 3W+ Cree flashlight on AA's for cheap. All the ones that are 3W+ Cree/SSC at DX or KD seem to take li-ions.

I just ordered 2 of them....MTE has been a fairly good producer, So I'm taking a chance it'll be a decent product. I really only expect 75 to 80 Lumens- but that will be plenty for a tiny light. It's one level only- which means less things to go wrong- plus I like the Seoul Led in a small light a bit better than a Cree

Theres another thread on this light but its from DX not kai

And the one from DX is about 65 lumens on fresh NiMH and it is not regulated...it drops to 50% in less then an hour maybe even 30-45mins...not quite sure...
Kai's one has a T-binned whereas DX's has a U-binned and unless Kai's light has better circuitry then it wont be as bright or run 2hrs+

Thanks for the link, Yapo, I posted an update to my "progress" placing an order for this light there. You probably saved me some grief on this. I don't mind paying about $3 more for a higher bin and smoother service.

That's why I come to CPF in the first place, knowledge makes for a happier consumer.

If you look under the advertised lumems claim, you will see that Kai put the following:

"- Actual test using NIMH 2500mAh: 4200lux overall, 58 lumens, 3000 center lux."

58 lumens is more realistic and 2.5 hours runtime is as well.

unregulated?!

why would anyone make unregulated LED lights in 2007?! thought regulation was now standard?!
