Re: My homemade bike lights + some indoor Beamshots

Very nice work. Care to give any details on LEDs, optics, and circuitry you used? I like the idea of mounting the lights below the handlebars. What kind of switch is that?

I'm currently building a tri-cree light out of a mag head (looks like someone beat me to that idea though!), but I'm waiting for my bFlex to come in.

Re: My homemade bike lights + some indoor Beamshots

The left one has 2x Seul emitters with one IMS27 reflector and one fraen narrow optic.

The right one has two Cree P4 emitters with two Fraen eleptical optics.

Driver circuit for both lights is the same, i used LM2576 and added thermal compensation, because of it is not constant current regulator (to reduse the current if too hot).

As i tested, i would like somthing BRIGHTER for High light, maby i will try to use Cree instead of Seoul because @ 1.2A and 50C temp it gets realy blue :ohgeez:

Or maby i will try to combine reflectors and optics...
-with optics i am not geting sutch narrow beam, but it uses all lights from emitter,
-with reflector, i get good spot, but i am vasting light in spill ...

For low light, my fraen eleptical lenses are Awsome! You feel like riding a car! But good for below 25km/h
