I bought two Ultrafire 18650 batteries for my Solarforce L2s. Charged them and both of them do not seem to work. The light comes on then goes dim or off. The L2 has the 5 mode module. Am I missing something? They work fine with 123As.

2 likely options:

1. You are working fine with 2 CR123s. Either the ultrafires aren't long enough and have weak contact, or you lost the ultrafire lottery. Pull the tailcap off and short battery (-) to the flashlight body, pressing the battery in firmly. If it works now, stretch your springs carefully. If not, look at the front spring. See if it reaches to the (+) contact on the cell. If it still doesn't work, you have lost the Ultrafire Lottery.

2. You have a module meant to work at over 4.2v. This is unlikely, because Solarforce modules tend to either include 4.2v AND 6v, or neither one.

by "going dim" do you mean it goes to the lowest level, rock steady? Or do you mean it dims in an unstable, flickery sort of way?

There is a third option, I am an idiot.

I tested it in a light with a bad dropin. When I put it in a good light, it worked fine.
