Hey guys I have been unable to find an answer after multiple searches so here goes. Does anyone know what happens if the small bridge from the protection circuit to the positive terminal on an 18650 contacs the inner side of the flashlight? The 2600 cells are a pretty tight fit in a Fenix TK21 and could eventually wear through the thin plastic sleeve.

If this is dangerous I will not use them or will the cell just cease to work? My 2400 and 2900 cells fit fine but I have lots of 2600 cells. Thanks.

If the strip comes in contact with the bottom of the cell's circuit directly of via the tube/clicky or whatever the short-circuit protection (if the battery has this feature) will trip. If the strip touches the wall of the cell directly (so broken plastic insulation between strip and cell, not strip and outside world) something will melt/explode or if you're lucky the cells internal venting security will kick in and disconnect internally.
