Just snagged two dorcy 1aaa's at wallyworld today in Alpharetta, Ga. I left two or three so go grab'em while there hot!

I took my 1AAA Dorcy and replaced the white LED with a very bright UV bulb. It drove my wife nuts while I ran around the house looking for things that glow under UV. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

That sounds fun. I think I am going to attempt the ls transplant on one of the little boogers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Blademan - Are you just going to remove the 5mm LED and solder on a LS? Are you going to short the resistor? Let us know how it works out.

I just picked up a blue AAA at Walmart last night. As of last night they have two red, two silver and one gold in stock. I can pick them up and ship them at cost if anyone is interested. I expect the total cost to be around $8.25 give or take 25 cents. That's $5.94 for the light plus 7% tax, $0.75 for the padded envelope and $1.06 for shipping. PM me if interested.

All you have to do is un-solder the stock 5mm led and file the top to fit the ls and you have it. There are some threads about this if somone would like to pitch in. I don't possess a digital camera right now so I can't do pictures. Maybe if I didn't buy so many lights I could buy one! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif

Should Arc worry?

PhotonBoy,
don't forget about quality...
Dorcy has a long way before they can touch ARC

Just picked up a Gold and Silver 1AAA/1 LED Dorcy. Not bad at all.

Brighter than my revered CMG Infinity Ultras, nice momentary clickie, twist for constant on.

A pooorrrr man's ARC.

I agree on quality but these little suckers do have a nice beam especially for the price.I think they will make nice gifts for all your non flashaholic friends.heh heh heh.To develop an addict don't give them the good stuff right away start them out easy with 1AAA LED lights and just casually show them something just a bit brighter and you got em hooked.

What would battery life be on a LS modded AAA? It sure is tempting given there's not much to it in relative terms. I guess it's better to mod the 3LED AA since you can fit an NX05 or Fraen in there and it has more batt juice and diff circuit...

kermit: I might take you up on that offer in a few days. Gonna check around again when I get the time in my location(s). I'm going to do the UV mod first thing as I've been waiting forever to do that..

I wish they made more of the black ones. I bet those would sell good.
