I just purchased a 1D mag that is tri-bored to run three 17670's & a WA 1185 bulb. My question is can I run a WA 1331 or will it go poof? If I can run the 1331 what kind of runtime and output should I expect?

Yes, you can run the 1331 in that setup. Both lamps will run in the same battery configurations. In the same configuration, the 1331 is more likely to instaflash because the 1.93A load doesn't produce as much voltage sag in the cells.

Still, I prefer running the 1331 with 3x17670's instead of an 1185. It gets between 35-40 minutes of runtime versus 20-23 minutes with the 1185. Both beams have the same color temperature. Less stress on the cells too.

I concur with Gunnerboy - the 1331 is a better choice. Just be careful your cells are not over charged - I have popped several 1331s on freshly charged packs. The 1166 is not quite as bright, but is more robust.

An AW soft starter or an NTC would be a good idea, but after saying that I don't have that on any of my 1331 set ups.

Thanks for the info guys, may have to get me one of AW's soft start's! Does anyone here make/sell a bleed off lamp? I swear a while back I saw someone here that sells bleed off lamps that fit FM's carriages, just plug it in and let it run for a minute or so.

Definitely get a soft-starter. I have a 3X17670 FM host with an AW soft-starter running a 1331 bulb. Great overall package. I have never flashed a bulb with this setup.
