1st post EagleTac D25LC2 question

I'm looking for a new, moderately priced light. I'll use it in my hunting bag and hopefully on a Fenix Headband too. The EagleTac D25LC2 seems to fit the bill.
That's the first question, I have no idea what barrel it has but the Fenix will only work from 18 to 22 mm.

This light is 850 lumens which seems a lot for the price, but I did see it mentioned in other threads here.

Is the quality good?

Any other suggestions for a light with a good throw that'll fit in the headband,

I'm using a Black Diamond Storm now which is a good light, just not enough power.

While the LED lumens are 850, the ANSI lumens are 618. Still quite bright but not up with that of a larger Fenix PD35 (which is too thick for your needs)


I've never had any issues with Fenix or Eagletac products and I consider them both to be good quality. Eagletac does have a 10 year warranty.

I have a D25LC2 and am very pleased with it. If you want more throw there is an XPG2 version which doesn't have quite as many lumens but has much higher lux (and this better throw)

I've collected quite a number of Eagletac products over a number of years and never had any issues but this is the first time I've heard this. Sure enough I go back to a warranty card and see a one year exclusion on electronics, chargers, and batteries. Always skimmed over the electronics part. Guess I should read the warranty cards (and likely instructions) more carefully. This seems to turn what a thought was a great warranty into a pretty mediocre one. Will have to follow up with Eagletac.

Still, I have quite a few of their products over time and have yet to have an issue (knock on wood) so I can't really complain much. Such has been the case with most of the major brands I've used (surefire, eagletac, fenix, streamlight, mag, photon, jetbeam, sunwayman). The only brands I've had some issues with are Nitecore and Zebralight and I still like their products.

If you're intent on using the D25LC2 for cycling, (I do, and it's a good light weight choice w/adequate run time/lotsa flashing modes, and easy on-off install with rubber strap) your best choice IMO would be the custom version with the XP-G2 and 2.0AMP driver sold by Illumination Gear http://www.illuminationgear.com/EagleTac-D25LC2-CLICKY-ETD25LC2RC.htm This version gives you a true 425 OTF lumens with 9,555LUX...roughly twice that of the XM-L2 model.
