What's everyone's favorite light to give as a gift? I'm looking for something small/EDC-sized, probably 1xAA, but not necessarily. Something with a very simple and intuitive UI for people who are not flashaholics. Also it should have a high quality feel and attractive beam, so as to impress someone who has only used the cheapest LEDs from big box stores before. $40 or less.

L10 Illuminations L3 219. Only issue I would see is that for non-flashaholics, they may have issues grasping the idea of modes. I lent someone one of these and they didn't realise that there were brighter modes. Stuck on firefly they were until they gave it back and said it was too dim. They also didn't get the idea of the twisty either as the light came back and had to twist a lot to get it on.

Other than that, Xeno E03 with a 219 has quite a nice beam and a clicky. Same person was stuck understanding the modes but did a lot better with the button.

I second the Xeno E03. If you want simple, it fits the bill. Decent beam, seems more expensive than it is, and truly idiot-proof. Always comes on in medium, so no matter what they do with it, will always have decent light when they turn it on.

I have an L10. I like it but I do think the UI could be frustrating for some. It would make a better gift if it was 1-mode.

I'll check out the Xeno and Crelant.
