Well, most lights discussed here use Power LEDS, not a 5mm. I don't understand that requirement at all, as LEDs last 50,000 hours. Why would you need to swap them often?

If you want a 1xAAA flashlight with a 5mm led buy a Fenix E01. They don't have glass lens (why use it with 5 mm leds?) and it's potted, so you can't change the led itself, but will probably outlast you unless you use alkalines in it.

I agree that this is a strange request. Why do you want it to be easily swapped? Do you plan on frequently changing the LED, or do you have a favorite LED specimen you'd like to put in and leave in?

Most compact lights solder the 5mm LEDs in so that they are secure against vibration and impact. If you are clever with a soldering iron, a Mag Solitaire with a li-ion cell will drive a 5mm LED, if you add a resistor to limit current. If the resistor is integral to the design (A disc inside the battery compartment maybe) then you could strip the reflector out forever, and swap 5mm LEDs as fast as you can trim the legs shorter.

Most of the 5MM variety don't bother with a lens because the LED itself is sealed. I think the Sapphire, and the Arcs ( maybe the Mako?) are the only ones with easily replaceable LEDs, and those need to be done as whole light engines.

I have a 5mm uvc led (voltage input 3.3v and yes that is correct)
And want a glass lens to protect the led from scratches
Also would like to be able to use nimh
