ok what bulb do i get from radio shack for this mod im going to run 9 volts i want insane bright

Raggie,

Get the Xenon Maglite for 5 C or D cells. Some people also like the RadioShack 272-1163 and 272-1164 bulbs. I like the Maglite Xenons because they seem to focus tighter.

ty bill one more question what do i use to make the cr123 battserys work?i though pvc but had no luck

A short piece of radiator hose works the best and should only cost a dollar or two, just make sure you take the light with you to make sure you get the right diameter hose and length.

btw whats run time? and how many lumens? lol i like my mag c i never saw one before

Rags, 'insanely' bright is in the blinded eyes of the beholder /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Good place to start for history of 2c Mag mods is this thread from last year.
285 lumens Mag 2C mods

Then you might be interested in coachbigdog's thread here, 500lumens, but will melt the plastic reflector:

3x123 Mag2C mod with WA1274 potted bulb

1. except you might want to spend some more money later, like $30 to put in a MagChg metal reflector, on top of the plastic reflector to keep it from melting...bwaites has mentioned this mod before as being very 'easy', but I'm pestering him to provide a pictorial guide, just like the one for cutting off the cammed focusing mechanism part of the plastic reflector, when doing a LED mod.

Sorry I made a duplicate, Ginseng already links you to that old thread from his reply post.

I meant this Did the 2C mag mod other old thread that Ginseng discusses a source for some other bulbs that maybe of interest to you.
Remember that using overdriven bulbs at around 10w-12w or more, may melt your plastic reflector. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Which was linked from this thread WelchAllyn Bulb Usage Reference. Hehe, this will take you a few days to read, and may confuse you almost as much as it did me, LOL

I recall there is yet another thread discussing the KPR112 and other bulbs in a Mag2C, can't remember where? Maybe if you do a search on bwaites' posts for the past 6 months, maybe he posted some recommendations on another thread???

So you have a number of different bulbs you can try without spending too much money.

But, if you want rechargeables, instead of $1 for CR123a's, you can buy 3 of JonSidneyBurly's R123 at $25 each !, and a charger for them. Then you have 3x3.7v = 11.1v total, instead of primary 3 CR123a's which are 9v total. No one has tried the R123 for multicell incandescent mods yet, the R123s have not arrived yet.
