2 x AA light

Looking for a 2 x AA light that would be in similar size to the Mini Mag 2 AA.

Looking at any options at this point, so let me know what lights fit this battery selection. I just don't know any besides the Mini Mag. Want something else besides the 3 x AAA lights.

I just ordered a Fenix E25. I also looked at the E21. Both looked great for my family's uses. These are mini-mag sized 2AA lights. There are cheaper options too. Let the people here know how you will be using it and they will give you several good suggestions.

It's brother, the M20A is also very nice, if you want set modes rather than variable. I have both, and I like them both quite a bit. My M20A finds more use beside my nightstand, it's easy to use low for navigating in the dark around the house, and can use max to look out the window in case I hear something Spooky. :D

I couldn't find my warm modded Fenix E21 for about four days, I was getting rather saddened by it's lose! I found it last night, after I had done laundry, in the bottom of the washer! Still works like a champ!
I have to recommend the E21 for sure now! I just wish it had either three levels, or more separation between the levels.

I have the 4sevens Quark Pro QP2A, Fenix LD20, and Surefire Outdoorsmen 2xAA. My favorite is the 4sevens in all catagories followed by the LD20. The Surefire is a well made good light, but only has 2 modes.

I also have a McGizmo Haiku 2XAA but it's in a class of it's own.

I throw in a vote for the Quark AA2 XML (QP2A-X) - what distinguishes it from the others are: moonlight mode, 10 yr warranty w/ HQ & good CS based in the US, legoable (get optional 1xAA body for EDC), and ability run 1xLi-ion for full power in a tiny package.

One of my older lights and most used is my Jetbeam BA20. I use two rechargeable Sanyo Eneloop batteries in and it throws well, puts out a pretty decent wall of light and has two simple settings the lower of which I find to be perfect for most things inside a building when you don't need super bright. Its quite a step up from even the best mini mag lite and only my 3D Maglite compares to it.

One of the dilemmas of having a 2 cell AA flashlight is how close the battery voltage is to the LED forward voltage drop. Depending on how the manufacturer has designed the driver circuit, brand new alkaline batteries (and especially brand new Energizer L91 lithium batteries) will be above the Vf of the LED such that you lose regulation on the lowest modes in a multi-mode flashlight and the light becomes direct drive. Most of the time the battery voltage on a 2 cell flashlight will be below the Vf and thus a boost circuit is needed. But if the manufacturer hasn't taken this into consideration with a buck-boost type of circuit, when new cells are inserted, you loose the lowest modes.

I've seen this on the Olight T25 and I think it also occurs on the Fenix LD22 and others. If just using Eneloops you never see this problem. But if you want to put in lithium batteries, say for emergency use in a car, you may find that you don't have the low modes until the batteries drain down some.

My only 2AA flashlight now is the iTP SA2. It does not have this problem. I've been steering away from 2AA flashlights and either go for the 1AA's or the 18650 lights now.
