I was just looking through Welch Allyn's datasheets today, and I noticed something very interesting.

237 lumens, and it runs off six volts at something like 11W. This means you could literally drop this bulb into an existing 4D Maglite without any retrofitting, even the reflector might be able to take it especially if you don't run for extended periods. You could use alkalines. Duracell's datasheets show the ordinary MN1300 cell rated for 2 hours at 2 amp loads. Possibly the cheapest Mag upgrade there is.
 
Bi-pin bulb in a 4D (which uses PR bulbs) w/no retrofitting? Um... you gonna pot the bulbs?
 
Oh, I meant no retrofitting of the Mag. During the group buys there is usually an option to get them potted, and yes, they do need to be.
 
Nope, WA don't have this bulb and the moment and have no idea when they will be making more. I tried to get some on litho123's GB. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
....foiled! Never mind, since the 3toDs are now available, all I need is a MOP 1940 reflector.
