I may have missed a thread in the past, but could not find any in the search.

I am trying to consolidate my batteries and want to stay with AA. Are there any decent AA headlamps with a CREE in them. It seems like it would be a great light, take Fenix AA light and change the format of where the battery is and poof a very usable light.

Do they exist?

Zebralight make two very nice 1xAA headlamps, and there are a number of 3xAA and 4xAA headlamps, but not many 2xAA.

I don't know how well they work, but Fenix now offers an accessory head strap that can hold one or two of their AA lights (maybe not the TK20).

Not many exist anymore. The black Diamond Zenix IQ was a decent one awhile back if you swapped out it's old Luxeon emitter for an SSC. Don't think they're available now. :ohgeez: Surefire Saint will take two if it ever actually gets released.

Pelican

3xAA, http://www.pelican.com/lights_detail.php?recordID=2630 (Luxeon)

StreamLight

3xAA, http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=140 (Luxeon)
2xAA, http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=132 (0.5watt Cree?:shrug🙂

Zebralight H501 is a very good light (i don't own 1 but have seen its performance during a Flashaholic outing😀). but how good will depend on the kind of beam profile you are looking for.:candle:

all flood? all throw? or a thrower with a wide spill?

Our bridge inspectors use the Pelican 2630 LED headlight and really like it. More than enough light and long life...plus you can get AA batteries anywhere, anytime.
