2D Aspheric Mag upgrade

Today I upgraded my 2D Mag that had a Terra-Lux Mini star5, to a Cree XP-G (SKU: 44306 from DX) & 3W driver (SKU: 25505 also from DX) a great heatsink from H22A.

I'll get some beamshots in the near future. ;)

Now, How I did it:

I took off the post with a lathe, and wired everything together.

Thermal compound added to the heatsink and LED

Then I added glow powder to the bezel and heatsink. I'll clean it up once the silicone dries.

Wow. I really dont like glow powder most of the time, but gazing at it through that aspherical gives an incredible effect. I also prefer blue to the green even thought is no as loud. Nice touch.

Very nice. How's the quality of that aspheric lens? The one I got from DX is pretty crummy. It's not very smooth and doesn't focus well at all.

The lens is very smooth and uniform, but I've noticed that the focal point is just ever so slightly off center. Other than that it's works great. I got it from KD and so far I can't complain much about the quality for it's price.
