2D ROP, should I use 6AA's or 2 Li-on's?

What would be a better solution for a 2D ROP? To get a battery holder from a forum member and have to buy 6 eneloop cells. Or would it be a better idea to get 2 Lion D sized cells and still have a nominal voltage of 7.4, as opposed to the 7.2 nominal from the Nimh's. I already have a Lion charger (a duratrax ICE, which I will use to charge the nimh's or the lion's), so the charger doesn't limit my options. I'm pretty sure I want protected cells. and on a final note, can I get a link of some good sources for Lion D sized cells?

EDIT: i don't think I can get Lion's in a D cell size. nevermind I found them here

At that price I think that answers my question, I will be getting an adapter for 6AA's :D.

Here is the D cell li-ion I just ordered its #4 on the list.

It is a protected 2d cell pack with the charger(the pic only show the charger but its for the cells too) for 39$ theese are also higher mah cells 5000mah the batteryspace ones they are only 3000mah. I dont have them yet but just though I would suggest them since most aa nimh are only 2000-2900mah. If you do get the cells you will also either have to cut down your tailspring or get the golden shorty they sell.

Here is a link to the 6aa to 2D adapter I have. Nice by the way.

Seems to me the price for 2 li-ions or for a converter and 2 packs of good aa batteries is about the same. About 40$ for either. Good luck

Wow, thanks for the links. I am going to get the li-ion pack, and the charger is a plus for me too, because I want to have something so I can charge the light if I'm on vacation or something :D. It's a shame that I just ordered from KD like a few days ago, I could have ordered this stuff as well. Ohh well shipping is free through KD :D.

A note on the 2D lithium pack from kaidomain. I bought the same pack when they first came out (about January 08). The protection circuit is very sensitive. It will not light a ROP high bulb with one click. I think I got the pack to light the ROP high bulb with numerous clicks. When I say numerous I mean so many clicks that I lost count of how many it took(>30 fast clicks). You would need a soft starter to get a rop high bulb to start with one click.

I think someone from kaidomain claimed the oversensitive protection circuit was fixed to allow higher current bulbs to be lit with one click. Don't take my work for the circuit being fixed. I THINK it was fixed. You may want to seach around the forum to see if the oversensitive protection circuit was fixed.

If anyone has more knowledge please chime in.
