30.6 lumen?

does anyone have an idea how bright is 30.6 lumen? maybe compare it to a 5mm white LED with a known mcd value at full power?

I am looking into buying the MCE RGBW LED (the warmer of the 2 models). however, the red die is rated at 30.6 lm and that seems kind of low so i want to get an idea of the brightness before i drop 30 bucks on it. thanks everyone.

lumen ratings are lower for red as the eye is less sensitive in that region. 30lm is still much brighter than a 5mm white LED or any rear bike light using an array of red 5mm LEDs.

31 lumens of pure red light is pretty bright.

It's also typical out-put from a 3watt emitter. Too bright to look at - that's for sure.

while doing tests on the MCE. the red sure is F-ing bright. i think i might have burned some retinal cells lol. anyways,

I discovered that if you weere to power all the die at once, it would only light up the red one. if you power everything but the red one, you would get a color mixing of the blue,green, and white.

it seems like whenever you power the red, all the other colors will lose power to it. This seems odd, but might be built into the internal circuitry to prevent overheating?

the viewing angle is also 115 degrees, unlike the XRE which is at 90 i think.

will their beam pattern be different with the same optics or reflector?

The red die has the lowest forward voltage, so if the dies are in parallel, the red will draw all the current. The white, blue, and green dies' forward voltages are all similar, and the red is about half as much.
