Since this company charges a whopping $600 a piece (plus $42 shipping to Italy) for this , is there any cheap alternative?

@ 365nm, assuming that is the actual center wavelength, that's about on par with what those go for.

If you're decently sure that the 100W LED array you linked to is actually 365nm, and not cheaper ~400nm chips, might go for it.

Well, they've replied to my price inquire quoting 365nm so I assume it's like that...
Just out of curiosity, do you think this would be brighter than a Maxabeam with a Wood filter?

Be careful. This website lists the wavelength as 365-420nm. You could wind up with something that's closer to 420nm that would just throw a lot of visible purple light.

Again, I've requested a quote specifically for the 365nm version, I suspect the 420nm one costs like $60 (1/10 of the price) :)

Brighter is kind of a relative term, the MB with a Woods filter will definitely shine allot farther in spot mode, I've fluoresced objects at over a block away with mine, however, in flood mode its not nearly as impressive, the uvleds will surpass the mb by far in flood.

I'd tried taking pix of it with my old camera but was having issues with them coming out, thinking there was some kind of filter internal, I'll try again with my dslr the next time my wife's awake and its dark out. :D
