I'm in the process of modding a Coast V16 LED light to incandescent. Does anyone know where I can get a couple of 38 mm glass lenses ?

Re: 38 mm Lense

The Sandwich Shoppe sells a 38 mm reflector but no mention of lens for it.

Re: 38 mm Lense

FYI: The lenses for the A3 heads (that use the McR-38 reflector) are @41mm :awman:

I too am looking for a 38-39mm lens or two. I doubt the local watch repair places have anything this "large".

Good luck. It is an excellent reflector, but the lack of a lens makes it pretty marginal. I tried everything I could think of to get a decent window for it.

I had to use a watch crystal as paying for 100 to get 1 window is a non-starter.

There is also the issue of the hole in the base being larger than the led. Without some method of hanging it over the led, it will short the wires.

They ought to mention these quirks and have windows available or quit implying that it is mainstream mod part. It's really a fine oem reflector.

Please do not get too excited but I think the Pentagonlight X3 mineral glass lens is either 38.1mm or exactly 38mm. Sorry I can't measure now since I am at work but I can update tomorrow for you.

I have purchased watch crystals based on a recommendation of another CPFer:

https://www.toolsgs.com/

A cursory check reveals that they only have crystals up to 36.0 mm, but at the time I ordered a few weeks ago I seem to remember seeing crystals up to 45.0 mm as well as in synthetic sapphire.

I put a mineral glass crystal in my PentagonLight and was pleased with the quality of the crystal from them, especially at the asking price of $2.

Thanks, I emailed them to see if they can get 38 mm crystals.

I have 1 or 2 mineral glass watch crystals left over from my McR38 builds. I don't remember the exact dimensions because I had 2 sizes.

I think they were 38.0 and slightly larger maybe 38.1. If you can use one, I'll measure them when I get home this weekend and let you know the exact dimensions.

PM me if interested.

I bought them here, https://www.toolsgs.com/ (thanks to scott.cr). You need to call and request a special size. They told me I would have to buy 36 lenes but after a short talk she said see would sell me 6. I only need 2 so 4 will be up for grabs after I receive them.
