3d maglite upgrade

So I have a 3d mag I'm wanting to upgrade to led and li ion batteries possibly what is the best way of do this I read a bunch of threads and am confused I can do all the soldering and assembly my self just ending a little help. I so jayrob's lights and the german with three leds. Is there a how to and parts list for these mods or am I stuck just doing a drop in or buying these guys prebuilt setups. Thanks

Thanks bud I will check it out I looking to make it brighter and extended the battery life it is a good light. Like new as the switch went out when it was new and I have held on to it. Is there a how to doing those mods by chance ?

There is got to be hundreds of mag mods on here. Here is a very complete build by Epsilon. The first one is a bit more complex but the second is strait forward.

The question is, how bright do you want it to be? The mod that Gtamazing suggested will give you about 600 lumens (stock incandescent 3D Mag is about 60 lumens) and you'll still get more run time than stock. Thing is, you can use a three mode 8X AMC7135 driver for less light output as needed and even longer run times or you can go with a 4X AMC7135 driver for less output and even longer run times (there are three mode variants available, too). With the 8X you'll lose output if you use alkaline batteries (about 500 lumens) so NIMH is preferred.

As far as the switch is concerned, call MagLite's customer service department and tell them you have this old MagLite that isn't working. They'll have you do some basic troubleshooting (replace batteries and bulb) then should ask for your address so that they can send you a replacement switch.
