At Deal Extreme, this 3w spotlight looks like a very tempting bulb. I just may try one of them, but wasn't sure of some of the specs. My guess is that it uses a 3W Luxeon.

SKU 11931- I wanted to know some specs.

1. How many lumens does it produce?

2. What wattage halogen is it equal to?

3. What degree spread are they?

4. Do you have a picture showing the hot spot from several feet away, instead of so close?

5. Does it require specific +/- leads hookup? Some will be damaged if you hook them up reverse polarity.

The spread photo look slike it is about 90 degrees, but it kind of appears to have about a 20-30deg hotspot in the center. Just curious what it would look like at several feet away.

Has anyone tried one of these bulbs?

An led flashlight should be brighter and you can still use optics if you want a wide spot. And did you read the comment on DX, it isn't mr11 size because it is longer. US $17.87 doesn't seem cheap to me. A purpose designed 6v 10w bike light bulb is 200 lumens+, a 10w Maplins Mr11 at a guess about 140.

The problem I'm having is that I have a 12.1v supply, and can't over volt my 12v lights. My 6v/10w light on my other bike is just as if not brighter than the 12v/20w bulbs I'm using on this rig. I'm trying to figure out how to get something brighter that doesn't use too much power.

That's kind of what I'm wondering about. I have some homemade MR11 bodies on my bike. They have plenty of room for these longer bulbs. I don't want to get rid of the light bodies I have.

I was considering using a flashlight 12v CREE R2 drop-in, but the diameter is smaller. I'd have to jury rig something to make it fit.

Not sure hwat to do.

Can't two 6v bulbs run from 12v ?

For a considerable upgrade, the current thread 'dyno powered triple cutter r2' features an mr11 sized kit. If you can build a heatsink maybe you can do this and use your housing, there must be suitable drivers for your battery. If you have 20w available you can go very bright with led.
