Two trains of thought, the first is "what to buy next", the second is "what to mod next and what equipment to buy for the mod".. very bad. Better get rid of it before this leads me into the temptation to spend money on lights again!

Photon held an inventory blowout and yours truly fell for it. I have two Microlight 3s on the way. I am also waiting on an Arc.
About the space needle, I recently built a regulated BB917 5W out of an OA4D, because I can't afford so many CR123s, even at $1 a pop, the shipping adds up, and the runtime isn't quite all there. Coppertop D cells however come cheap at the local supermarket and run for what seems like forever, reducing their cost-per-minute to something I can enjoy rather than sweat about /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
That, and a DD 3W can be found on the Alternative Recipes section of the cookbook. I don't find it *THAT* bright however, perhaps it has something to do with being spoiled rotten by bright lights? It does however light up a room very nicely, I could work by the light of ONE of those alone.
The adventurous can try crossing a BB917 boost converter and 5W Luxeon frontend with this battery config. According to my estimate you're going to get hit for around 1.1 amps, and on good 2100mAH cells you can expect 100+ minutes of guilt free runtime at full power. I solved the wiring problems, remove the spring and solder directly to metal assembly, pot in generous quantities of loctite and use strong, flexible stranded wire, works like a treat. One of the CPF'ers has the upgraded version.
