hello,
i have a 6p running a 17670 i would like to increase the runtime so i was thinking of adding two extenders so i could run two 17670s / or 4 rcr123 now
A. i would like to know if this is feasible or if im just a retard
B. would i need to change lamps to something able to handle more
any advise woyuld be great
as always thanks in advance

A better bet might be to just purchase an FM 2x18650 body for, what are they roughly, $40 or so? This will result in a 6P-compatible light the same length as what you are proposing (in fact all exterior dimensions will be the same), but 2xAW18650 = ~5200 mAh, while 2xAW17670 = only ~3200 mAh.

2x18650 are definitely the way to go once you're talking about a light of this length.

YEA I JUST HATED TO HAVE TO BUY NEW BATTERIES ALREADY HAVE A 17670 BUT GUESS YOUR RIGHT BUT IF I DO 18650 I MIGHT JUST HAVE MY TUBE BORED AND ONLY DO ONE IF I DO THAT CAN I STILL PUT A 17670 IN IT?

Yes, an 18mm tube supports 17 and even 16mm cells.

I just finished a battery of runtimes you may find useful:
Malkoff M60 MC-E + 2x AW18500 = 70 minutes of continuously high output (9P/C3)
Malkoff M30 + 1x AW18650/26 = 105 minutes of continuously high output (6P/C2)
Malkoff M30 + 1x AW IMR16340 = 20 minutes of continuously high output (3P)
Malkoff M30 + 1x AW RCR123A = 30 minutes of subdued output (3P)
Malkoff M60 + 2x AW18500 = 140 minutes of continuously high output (9P/C3)
Malkoff M60 + 1x AW18650/26 = 600 minutes of gradually declining output (6P/C2)
Malkoff M60L + 2x AW18500 = 270 minutes of continuous medium output (9P/C3)
Malkoff M60L + 1x AW18650/26 = 500 minutes of continuous medium output (6P/C2)
Malkoff M60LL + 1x AW18650/26 = 900 minutes of continuous low (80L) output (9P/C3)

EG, Thanks for the runtime information. What is special about the Malkoff M60 is that it runs at very near maximum output (very close to its rated 240 lumen maximum) on a single large LiIon cell like the AW 18650 2600 mAh, unlike some other LED modules. This way you also get extremely long runtimes (albeit with declining output), detailed at greater length in the following threads:

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=226590
http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=194879 (a good Malkoff overview but also has some specific info on the M60 w/1xLiIon)

Just boring your 6P for 1x18650 (or purchasing an inexpensive Solarforce L2 6P-compatible host, which is already sized for 1x18650) will definitely provide the runtime you are looking for, in a much shorter, more convenient host. However, the (top-notch) Malkoff M60 is highly recommended if you are going to take this route, as there is a fair bit of test data on CPF showing how well it runs on 3.7v.

Enjoy,

Just get a Solarforce with E-18 extender. Dirt cheap and good quality.
Put the 6P bezel and rear switch on and you are good to go.
Assuming your LED can handle around 8V.
I'm using the 2x18650 setup with a Lumens Factory D26 R2 LED.
Can use it with 1x18650 too.

Its a really versatile setup.

Add a Surefire switch and you have a winner.
