My 6yr old son loves the movie Goonies (pirates and all) and a while back we were at Menards and he saw an old looking lantern and asked me if I could 'Fix it' for him. Well it dosent give off much light but he even sleeps with it. Originally it was listed as a citronela lantern. 4xAA in the upper section, wires run down one of the side arms, and a push button switch in the filler hole. I tried ot get the batteries in the fuel compartment, but this would leave sharp edges.

The 'flame' is 4x 5mm OLD yellow LEDs and a 3mm red in the middle, total current draw is about 50mA. I used hot glue to fill the space around the LEDs, and held it upsidown to get the inverted drip effect, and dunked in cold water when it looked good.

Just another idea I thought I would throw out there.
Being unemployed SUX. but at least I get to make stuff, to stay sane.

Looks good. Creative use of the glue. Color looks pretty good, as well.. And it doesn't spill.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
