9P Drop-in

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

THe specifications say it will take voltages up to 9v, so yes it will work in a 9P with 2x17500s.

Will it put out 300 lumens? Who knows.

Yes, it will work with two 3.7V batteries or three CR123's.

It is not going to give you 300 OTF lumens. You will need an XPG for that OTF lumen range.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry for being such a total noob but where can I purchase an XPG dropin that will work with my set-up?

European link would be great but I'd be grateful for any link.

Thanks.

17500s are not a deal-breaker, I can always use primaries as well.

Malkoff M61 is the best of the bunch at the moment, but it's only 260 lumens (tested and confirmed as >= 260 after losses at the reflector and lenses) - you can get brighter, but the combination of build quality, customer support, eye-watering output and excellent runtime keep them selling out at regular intervals despite the premium price.

Actually, that's the great part about having a 3-cell SF like the 9P:
  • Voltage (under load) from 3x CR123's: ~7.5V
  • Voltage from 2x 17500's: ~7.4V (essentially identical)
So you have almost exactly the same voltage, with only slightly less total watt-hours in the LiIon rechargeable setup. Very flexible - a great combo.

Good to know Kestrel, it was this forum that recommended 2x17500s.

I have found a European link for ThruNite P60 Cree XP-G R5 LED Drop Ins.

Of course I am not going to divulge until I've got mine :)

Can't find Malkoff M61s anywhere :(

Also want a P91 for 20 minutes of pure incan pleasure.
