I have two microscopes and that looks very interesting, but will it have any use in Flashlights?

Looks like it works a lot like the lens in our own eyes. If someone can design a flashlight around it, it would mean variable focus without any moving parts. Very interesting indeed.

There's a pissing match between above-linked company and Philips, which developed a similar product.

In the not too distant future, I can see all of the non multi-level, non-focusing flashlights we currently use looking awfully archaic. Let's just hope Maglite doesn't get their grubby little fingers into that technology and patent its use in flashlights.
