WARNING: FIRST POST AND HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER

Sorry if this question is in wrong post but I am brand new to this whole world of extreme spotlights / HID. Stumbled upon CPF when looking to purchase spotlight after seeing a friends 3M CP light. After much surfing on the Web at purchsing relatively cheap lights I am looking between the VEC 192 20M or the VEC POB. Between those two I am not sure which it better. Remember this will be my first light ever and am sure I will be be impressed with anything. Just would like to get the best intro into this sport. I infer from this forum that the N30 is even better but not easy to find and not sure if i (novice) will notice the increase in performance. Could someone please help me make a decision between 192 or POB so i can get it for myself for Christmas. If one of the more experienced can recommend waiting to get the N30 or L35 I might wait. Thanks for the help.

:welcome:

I recommend you get the POB. I have no experience with the Vec192 20 million candlepower, but the POB should have more throw. The POB also runs over an hour at full brightness, that Vec192 might only give you half that. I am still just guessing about that Vec192 since I don't own it, but I believe the POB would out throw it.;)

The N30 is an amazing light also, and I highly recommend it. I find it to be much better in all ways than the POB, and it is brighter. Unfortunately it is out of stock until the first quarter of 2009.

Another spotlight to consider getting if you just want to have something really impressive is the Profesional's Favorite 17.5 million candlepower spotlight from Advance Auto for $40. I own it and it out throws the POB. However, it only runs for maybe 20 minutes at full brightness (I have never done a true runtime test on it). A nice thing about it is that it can be run directly from its 12V DC car adapter cord for unlimited power.

Blue Beam,

Thanks much for the info. I am going with the POB. I am sure it will be the first of many as I have become quickly interested in this new hobby. can't wait. I think that when the new replacement for the N30 comes out (i thinki the L35) i will probably get that next. Appreciate your beam shots and the extra freebie on the maiximillion. I am sure I will slowly aquire a collection. I am strictly looking for factory stuff right now as I do not feel I could modify anything right now without destroying.
Thanks again. I can't wait to get this first POB light on Christmas from my kids. Hopefully by next Christmas I will have aquired a Tank Spotlight!:twothumbs:twothumbs

You are welcome, and I know you will love your POB. The throw will be the aspect of it that impresses you most, wait until you get to shine it at a distant treeline or low clouds! It has an amazing looking beam and is a very useful light.

Hope you enjoy it!

Now that I have ordered my first real light (POB) I am already searching out my next purchase. Boy this stuff is addicting. Who'd of thought that stumbling upon this forum would consume my free time. Any other comments on what my next purchase should be. At this point I feel like I am interested only in max throw. I just have a craving to see a beam of light go as far as possible. I am a retired Attack Helicopter Pilot and I have used LASERS extensivley and those are awesome but now I am interested in just a beam of light as I am less likely to get in trouble as I do not beleive they are considered weapons (like LASERS). I am not sure what I really like until I play with my POB after Christmas. I am still looking at the N30 and possibly spending big $ on Polarion PH-50. Comments?

Now I know what my last purchase will be  I don't want to hurry and spoil all the fun of owning lights inbetween a POB and this though. I am sure I would either melt the shield on my first burn or end up like a crispy moth as I would be attracted to the intense light - end game! Thanks for the link!

hehe. glazed over that thread, and the description thread of that light myself.
Always chuckled when I saw the EDC picture before the spotlight.
