My recent purchase of a Zebralight H30 and a Fenix P2D/L1D has uncovered some neat tricks. The Zebralight accessories will work with the Fenix flashlights. A word of caution. The Fenix fits very snug. It stretched out the fittings a bit so the Zebralight is a bit looser in the same fittings (but not enough to fall out). THis can be prevented by committing one holder to the flashlight and the other to the Zebralight. Both Fenixes will work due to the same diameter. The P2D is a bit more preferable cause of its slightly shorter length but does not make a big difference. The possibilities are sweet. I like the rubber clip for the flashlight. It gives it a better grip and you can put it on a hat. The Zebralight headlamp and Fenix flashlight combo at the same time will give you some throw and close up light. I have not actually used this combo outside yet but I will tonight and give you all a report back on the usefulness of this combo. I would post pics but either I am a bit slow on the uptake or I am still to new to post them.

For some reason I can't do pictures. I think I dont have the type of account that will let me post them. I do have them though if someone can help me post them. Thanks

I can see the one photo, but I guess I have to sign up to see the others? :ironic:

I think a lot of people are putting small 1xAA lights in a spare bracket on the Zebralight headband. Personally I'm using a Fenix L1T v2.0 as a supplement to the Zebralight H50 - useful spot, forward clicky, only two modes to worry about and uses the same type of battery as the Zebralight.

I generally hike with the H50 on medium and use the L1T on high when I want to know what's out there in the darkness. I would estimate that the L1T is only on for about 30 seconds out of every 10 minutes though.

cool idea!

how does the fenix affect the balance of the headband? can the fenix throw its beam without interference from your head/hair? does it complement the zebra?

I have the Fenix on the side of my head, just above my ear. No problems with hair getting in the way of the L1T, although I sometimes have hair in the way of the H50 since I don't wear a hat at night! :)

I don't find there to be a balance issue and the L1T falls to hand naturally.

I use the L1T for route finding in trackless areas and occasionally to observe what's coming up - for everything else I use the H50. After a fair bit of night hiking with the H50 I find that the medium level is perfectly adequate for following trails and choosing foot placement.
