Now I always edc a flashlight, no matter what. BUT There is another type of violent crime that has been going on at movie theaters for years. This might have claimed more lives over the years than what happened in Colorado.

You see, there have been these thugs that, for years, have been putting HIV infected syringes in movie seats. There is even a note that says something like "Welcome to the real world; you are now HIV+." There is a very simple solution: Carry a small flashlight and check your seat before you sit down. Who knows, maybe some young lady might be impressed by your powerfully bright flashlight.

Encourage your non-flashaholic (and flashaholic alike) friends and neighbors to do the same. It doesn't have to be the latest or the greatest high powered LED, just a simple Mini Maglite or Pelican Mity Lite. Both can be had for <$30. Just shine your flashlight into the seat you plan to sit in and check thoroughly for anything sharp or otherwise harmful.

Good thing there is no such thing as flashlight control.

NOW On a non related matter: Does anyone know of a 2 D cell portable bow light that would use a PR6 (or PR2) bulb?

It happened in my local theater years ago! In a small city southwest of where I am (which has an AIDS problem in that city anyway) I am just saying be on the lookout (or BOLO as the state troopers call it) for those wanting to commit crimes in movie theaters. It was originally some kind of gang initiation, but now there are bound to be imitators of that guy in Colorado. They might not try to commit their dangerous crime overtly, but covertly. I am just saying, that people are probably going to start getting ideas and this problem is likely to re-surface. Take it or leave it.

for emergencies you mentioned above. one more question, how many lumens are yours, I was about to buy this Small Sun mini bright led light on MT but dont know if it's suitable.

The ones I carry (and have carried to movies) are between 11 (Mity Lite 1900) to 14 lumens (Mini Mag). It's a very humble amount, but will get the job done. They are all I can afford, but at least they are made in the U.S.A. I have also been playing with the idea of using an Under Water Kinetics http://www.uwkinetics.com/products/uk4aa-xenon-twist-bezel which gives off 38 lumens. I am also thinking of the Pelican Mity Ltie 1960 which is somewhat brighter than the 1900 (24 lumens; more than double is predecessor.)

As for the light you are considering; it doesn't specify on the website how many lumens it gives off. For its price it is apparently Chinese made, which I tend to steer clear of (when possible.)

I would say that the minimum amount of lumens for checking movie theater seats should be at least 11. BUT anything above 100 lumens might arouse suspicious attention.

It might not happen on a large scale, but give idiots an idea and they'll do it. The idea is out so it's better to be safe than sorry. If this or something similar ever does happen to you, note the time and immediately go to the nearest emergency room and tell them you might have been infected through a wound the second you get there. There are ways to prevent infection even if it's already in your blood, but time is of the essence. Bring the object in question: they can use it to help identify the risk and this will prevent another person to land in the trap at the same time. That said, aids won't survive long in contact with air, but other diseases that are just as bad can survive for days/weeks/months (hepatitis is one of the longer lasting.) In doubt, just head straight for the nearest emergency room and tell them what happened.
