A2 delayed?

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

I would feel better if we were told directly and specifically what is causing delays. "We're working out reliability issues with the switch" or "we're retesting heat tolerance for sustained on" etc.

Kind of like sitting on the runway for an hour waiting for the plane to take off and the pilot very graciously gives us all the details: "A lost duck is hiding in one of the engine nacelles and we are sending in our trained ferret, Oscar, to, uh, ferret him out"

That wouldn't bother me at all and I'd be very patient.

I know I started this round of anti A2 sentiment so let me throw some water on the fire...

I believe it to be fact that SF is ready to go with these lights. They are waiting on something which is out of their control. Once this matter is cleared up they can ship right away.

I owe SF an apology.

After awhile all it does is cost the company credibility and their release date information becomes a joke. Then you have to start wondering what other information from them is in error as well.

I'm sure no one at Surefire is sitting around thinking "Hey, lets tell them the A2 will be out in October and watch them suffer till March".

I'm sure whatever is holding the A2 up is out of their control. I mean let's face it, Surefire wants the A2 out more than anyone so they can start making $ on it. Not to mention so they don't have to answer all the calls from both customers and dealers wondering where the heck the A2 is. I'd be willing to bet they field a lot of those calls daily by now.

What is in their control though is repeatedly releasing information on the shipping date of a product that was in error. They would be way better off telling the customer "We do not have a release date at this time for the A2 because we are waiting for..."

A2 is on the cover of 2003 catalog. Actually three of them...

I would say holding up the shipment of the A2 until production problems were solved was better then the treatment I received from the Minnesota Green Bean Company.

The beans were cut lenthwise instead of on the bias. They were brown from the drought, and the can was swolen from improper packing.

Production problems I would guess. But they shipped anyway.

Tasted awful.

PLEASE do NOT do that again. Never eat food from swollen cans. The contents could cause botulism or another type of food poisoning.

Call the company and report the name and the code on the top of the can.
Then throw it away.

Do not risk your health on $0.99 worth of beans!

Back on topic---I'm waiting for my A2 with the rest of you.

A2 switch options:
(based on SS2002 A2 proto-tpye features)

Locked Out Mode
[screw in]
Momentary LED
[screw in]
Momentary LED, press harder for main beam
[screw in]
Constant-on LED, press for main beam
[screw in]
Constant-on main beam

FYI, the LEDs remain on when the main beam is on.
If the main beam filament is broken, the LEDs still work.
The LEDs will not work without the Lamp Assembly inside the bezel.

I don't believe these features have changed since SS2002.

I contacted Dan at TacticalWarehouse today and he said Surefire told him on Wednesday that the A2s will be ready to ship extremely soon. He has heard nothing different and has no idea how a rumor to the contrary got started. Time will tell; hopefully it will not be much time!

Eating beans from swollen cans has improved my brain cells so much that I am now able to post on the CPF.

Brightguy says my A2 is due any time now.
