Since it is my only surefire light, I am pretty pleased with it. I figured something was fishy with runtime. The g2/e2/etc has a good bit longer runtime on the same batteries and same or brighter bulb.

IMHO, as EDC light theres nothing better in terms of the versatility--from reasonable throw w/the incandescent to reasonable close range flood w/the LED's. The regulated incandescent is great. My Porcupine version has the added benefit of having these spiky things to clean your finger nails out with among other things.
Its hard to go back to unregulated incandescents w/the exception of a couple like the 12ZM and M6 which have somewhat different purposes.
The only (slight) draw back to the A2 is the somewhat oval beam shape of most MA02's. Most of the other SF LA's now seem to be like this (except for the N62). It must be easier from a QC standpoint to not be fussy about beam shape and even bill it as an advantage?
I just love the A2 for its regulated incandescent beam, sure other small incandescent lights may have more throw, but very few keep there throw over the life of the battery like the A2.
The A2 was a path-breaking light and a pleasure to own, albeit, very briefly. It was too large for me to EDC and too small for being a light cannon, so that is just personal taste. It remains the best hybrid torch out there, IMO.

I agree -- it would be nicer if the A2 were shorter and if the incan had a higher output, but after using A2s extensively during the blackout last year, I can say without reservation they are definitely the most generally useful lights I own.
It is a very useful light. Thumbs up to surefire for making it. I would love to see a few issues addressed, mainly the waterproofness or lack of it. Actually the knurling is a bit too agressive for my tastes.
