I know lithium AAs are very light. I use them in my cordless optical mouse because of that reason but I can't afford or don't want to load up a couple of Energizer lithium AA's every other month. I have compared Nimh rechargeables and alkalines and I can't tell a significant weight differential between the two but they both are considerably more heavy then the lithiums. How are Nicad AA rechargeables weight wise compared to above mentioned batteries? Or are there other alternatives? I personally don't know of any such for AA batteries.

The Nicads are definitely lighter than either the alkalines OR the NimH cells.
After I received some of the 1600mAh NimH cells, I noticed how heavy they seemed (for rechargeables).
-So I weighed each on my 1/10th gm. digital scale, -and sure enough, the NimH were the heftiest.
AA alkaline: =24.2gms.(Dura-M3)
AA 850mAh Ncd=22.8gms.(R.Shack)
AA 1600mAhNmH=26.6gms.(Duracell)
)-AA Lithium=14.2gms. (Eveready)
