Hello. Great forum!

I bought a bunch of eneloops and it appears they cannot tolerate the current of my servos as well as normal NiHM batteries. The voltage drop when using my servos is pretty scary. If the receiver would have a brown-out then I'd crash another airplane.

So, I'm looking for a non-LSD AA rechargeble to make into 4 and 5 cell packs. I'll just use spring-loaded cases so there's no need for weld-tabs.

I understand the sanyo 2700's discharge pretty quickly. I'd like to be able to charge my batteries and be able to use them after a few days or 1 week without having to top them off.

Looking for suggestions. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Wait...are the batteries for the plane or for the remote? You may want to go with LiIon or LiPo. Most RC airplanes use them because they're lightweight and can put out a lot of current. I can't imagine dragging a bunch of Eneloops into the sky... :crazy:

Something is wrong here. First of all, what are you considering "normal" NiMH batteries?

Eneloops have a proven and tested high current ability far better than almost any other regular NiMH cell on the market. If you are not experiencing this, then the Eneloops themselves may not be the problem. Something may be wrong with your charging or treatment of the batteries, or with the electrical connections made between the battery and the servos.

Unless you go to specialist high current cells like the Elite 1700s, you will find nothing with better test results for high current loads.

I think your problem is that what you consider "normal" NiMH cells, are actually hobby grade cells. Like the Elite 1700's Mr H mentioned, these type NiMH cells are designed to provide much higher current than "standard" NiMH cells.

This is going to cause you problems. Any springs in a battery carrier are going to reduce the available current significantly. They act like resistors. If possible, try not to use any springs in your battery setup. Ultimately, welded or soldered battery cells work the best. If you can come up with a tight fit, that'd be better than using springs, but they may vibrate loose, unless well contained.
