I recently decided to EDC an ARC AAA in the pocket with all my keys and stuff, as opposed to the separate (watch/change) pocket that I always carry my HA natural premium version in. So, I pulled out of the drawer my black turquoise AAA that's already worn from keychain carry and tried to put the black head from a rare white led standard version I have stashed that happened to luckily get an LED equal to or better than every premium version I've had. I was trying to use the already worn tube rather than wear out a never carried tube but still get to use the premium version tint of the fluke standard.

Anyway, after that long winded explanation /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif, it wouldn't light up. The turquoise head worked fine on the white one's tube, but the white head won't work on the turquoise's tube. Both look like the same version with circumferential lettering around the top of the tube. What am I missing, why this won't work for me? tia

C'mon Peter...give me a hint /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif

Arc changed the threading at some point so not all heads work with all bodies but assuming that the threads are compatible, then the heads may be screwing in to different depths and the solder blob on one might be too small and not making contact with the battery.

Also check to see if the head is seated all the way down. some heads will screw down with no problems almost all the way down, but not quite enough to make contact.

It's been a mystery as to what thread size ARC AAA uses. There has been at least two thread sizes.

As GJW pointed out ARC sometimes will add to the solder blob to make proper contact.

Thanks GJW and cy, I noticed that the turquoise head srews onto the white one's body and feels smooth, easy and normal but the white head does feel like the threads are mismatched a little on the turquoise body. I figured since the turquoise head fit the white body, the white head should also fit the turquoise body, even though it felt mismatched, but I guess it could go one way and not the other depending on which one had the tighter pitch or something. I wasn't aware of the different thread pitches until now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
