My Battery Junction Illumina Ti has died :( and Battery Junction said they can not be repaired only replaced :scowl:.
I've been to 4 sevens, iTP and Fenix's web site. Without going into a diatribe, I found that nothing there really excites me.
So, what's new in the world of pocket AAA1 flashlights.

Hi MK9,

ThruNite has recently introduced new offers in AAA ( Ti ) and also AA (T-10) .

And "the guy with no name" is in the final stages of production and testing
of his newly designed "Torpedo" AAA .... in the CPF Custom Flashlight Builders and Modders forum . (500 lumen AAA flashlight .... thread)

You might look into those ?

~

Edit: corrected forum the Torpedo is in .

Really not much has changed. The XM-L emitter is out, but it is only about as efficient as the XP-G the Illumina Ti has. The only difference is that it can be driven a lot harder. So one can theoretically drive it to very high output with a small IMR lithium cell.
Runtime would be awful though as IMR have even less capacity than rechargables normally do, which is less than a primary CR123 or the like.

Using a 10440 is generally a bad plan anyways since they are too small to use a protection circuit in most cases. And you need IMR to avoid overstressing the battery.

I would check out the MBI Torpedo though (google it). Should be available fairly soon for 70 bucks or so. Can do 200 lumens on a NiMH AAA which is great. Capability to use his custom battery and charger for a real pocket rocket.
