AAAARRRGGGHHH! Polarity

I just got a Spiderfire flashlight from DX and it came in the usual white box with no instructions. And, as is the case with many lights, there was no indication of polarity on or in the device. Inova flashlights, many of them, have the plus side (+) facing up. My rule of thumb is that the negative (-) goes towards the springs. Is this normally a safe bet? In the Spiderfire's case, the spring is in the front and the brass button is in the tail.

Since I don't want to blow this flashlight, can I safely assume the above?

Normal LED lights and almost all lower priced ones have the positive to the head(where the LED is) and negative to the tail(where the switch is).

I'd say that is a safe bet. If it doesn't work then you can probably blame DX for not sending instructions.

Thanks. I also notice that my Surefire G2 has springs both fore and aft. With incandescent bulbs, that's no problem, but what about using one of the drop-ins advertised on DX (the R2)? Safe bet to put the plus side fore?

I think the drop-in works the same way.

If its 14028 then the "+" tip goes towards the head. ALL DX drop ins work this way.
