Guys,
I am looking to mod a torch to take the highest lumens IR (850+nm) LED I can find, and then use an aspheric for tightest throw... for use with night vision equipment.
I found this one a while back. Roithner claims it's a 5W...

Looking at the specs I am confused as to what driver to use to get maximum lumens out without cooking it.
Can I drive it at 2A? or only 550mA (I find the specs confusing)?
Is this about the brightest IR LED available?
Can you recommend a good driver?
