Microsoft uses its Azure Quantum Elements (AQE), a platform combining AI technologies and high-performance computing (HPC), identifying a new material blend. It's with the potential to reduce the amount of lithium content in batteries. In just 80 hours, it winnows 32 million potential inorganic materials to 18 promising candidates, which could be used in battery development.

The newly discovered material scientists are currently testing uses both lithium and sodium, as well as some other elements. It may reduce the lithium content considerably - possibly by as much as 70%. Microsoft envisions its AI could be trained to predict how materials might behave in a battery. Do you think it's potential ahead?
