Alkaline Battery Charger

I have tons of devices which use batteries from small buttons, AA,AAA,C,D,9V and more. I use quite a few Alkalines and have done some research, and it appears you can safely recharge these batteries. There are chargers on the market which do so very effectively, and this is one I just purchased and want to give it a try. Not only charging my hundreds of Alkalines but my rechargeables also. I wanted to see what people thought about recharging Alkaline batteries. Here is the charger I bought.

I read an article many years ago about charging alkaline batteries. Apparently it is feasible to do so but works best if the batteries are no more than half depleted. I don't know if there would be any real cost advantage over regular rechargeable batteries.

It'll save you money on 50c batteries, right up until they leak and destroy your $100 device.

It's just not worth it.

NiMH has become such a good alternative (eneloop etc.)... Really, there is no need putting any more
effort into Alkalines.

If there is a good application, lithium L91 e.g. can be a good replacement, if long term minimal usage is required.
Otherwise NiMH is the way to go IMHO.
