Hi,

I have an idea how to estimate green laser output without any meters. I've been reading this forum and didn't found this method anywhere. I invented it on my own. :) Please check if I'm correct.

As we know, green light has efficiency of ~680 lm/W. I deducted, that laser which has 1W output will produce 680 lm of light in collimated beam. 100mW will produce 68 lm, 10mW - 6,8 lm etc. We must disperse collimated laser beam on white wall or ceiling. Next step is to have a green power LED with known lumen output (Luxeon, Cree, etc). We must drive the LED to the level when it produce the same amount of dispersed light as green laser we want to measure. When we reach this level, simply read mA readings of the LED on ampmeter. Then refer to lm/mA graph of our green LED which can be found in datasheet. Finally, divide lumens of the LED by 0,68lm/mW and we get estimated power (mW) of the laser. :)

Cheers,
Damian.
